although post-millennium, this entire album is a magnum opus of pop-punk nostalgia as it cues incredibly vivid reflections of unconditional bliss and the adolescent heartbreak you tried to put behind you.

heart's terrain is never a prairie
but you weren't wary
you took my hand
through the cold, pissing rain
dressed to the nines
arm in arm with me tonight
singing out loud

I’ve known of STRFKR since around the time this album was originally released (2012 or 2013, most likely). That said, it’s taken me until now (February 10, 2023) to listen to STRFKR. And allow me to say this is something I somewhat regret. This album reminds me a lot of MGMT’s “Oracular Spectacular” but less polished. There’s an earnestness to these songs that is undeniable, and it’s a helluva lot of fun. If electro rock is your cup of tea, bring an empty cup; STRFKR’s gonna make sure it’s full. Kirk Gauthier
