when the soul of the city was laid to rest
and the night forgotten and left for dead
i happened on a house built of living light
where everything evil disappears and dies
when they love you (and they will)
tell them all, they'll love in my shadow
and if they try to slow you down
tell them all, to go to hell
i settled in slowly to this house that you call home
to blood and breath, fair flesh and bone
blush of our bodies in the heat of the night
all day, the day after, reddened the skies
when they love you (and they will)
tell them all, they'll love in my shadow
and if they try to slow you down
tell them all, to go to hell
it's a lifeless life with no fixed address to give
but you're not mine to die for anymore, so i must live
born of a bottle from heaven's hand
and now you know, and here i am
when they love you (and they will)
tell them all, they'll love in my shadow
and if they try to slow you down
tell them all, to go to hell
when they love me (and they will)
i'll tell them all, they'll love in your shadow
and if they try to slow me down
i'll tell them all, to go to hell

As far as indie albums in the 2010's and beyond go, this is one of the most cohesive and emotive albums I've experienced looking back on it and is Jay Som's best album tokyonoir
Two new songs from the Nashville musician (and drummer in Sad Baxter) reveal a talent for rock hooks and anthemic power pop aesthetics. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 11, 2022
A slow drip of Tropicália-infused psychedelia from New Orleans rock outfit Blue Basin: balmy one moment, aggressive the next. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 22, 2022

Absolutely brilliant, dreamy indie folk-rock. Most of the songs are somewhere between two and three minutes but feel as though they last a lifetime (in a good way). Beautifully heart-wrenching from beginning to end. Kirk Gauthier
